Faleh Al Dhahri
At the end of the 1st day of Muharram - or November 20th, 1979 - General Faleh Al Dhahri first heard that "something was happening in Mecca". The next morning, he accompanied a unit of M113 armoured personnel carriers on their 1100km flight to the holy city. Soon, he was nominated as the commanding officer of the entire military operation by Minister of Interior Prince Nayef. Wounded by a bullet fired by one of Juhayman's snipers during a reconnaissance mission on the mosque's roof, on the 13th day of the occupation, Gen. Al Dhahri finally overcame Juhayman and his group.
